Guest Blogger Helen Walter - 60th Birthday in Lockdown

The only problem I had with turning 60 on 2nd April 2020 was how to celebrate and include all the friends who wanted to join me. I had old work friends and colleagues, regular friends, family etc and it was all getting a bit much to try and accommodate everyone. I would have been happy just going for a Chinese buffet with hubby and the boys but the work friends wanted to organise afternoon tea and other friends who wanted to BBQ. Realistically there are only so many meals you can have in one day.

Lockdown was a godsend as it meant that I didn’t have to do ANYTHING.

In the end I had a very special day with cards and flowers left on my doorstep, loads of facetime and telephone calls, whatsapp messages as well as over 100 Facebook greetings. I even had some social distancing visitors who sang happy birthday and had cake in the garden as well as the neighbours singing to me during the 8 o’clock clap as it was on a Thursday so all in all it was a very special time and I didn’t feel like I had missed out at all.

Looking back the decades have passed very quickly so make the most of each one, don’t deny yourself anything and regret nothing because there is no going back only forward and I intend to spend each day living life to the full and having fun.
